Hey folks, Laura Johns here, founder and CEO of The Business Growers. This episode of the Know Grow Scale podcast is a little different. I’m recording from our headquarters in Flowood, Mississippi. I want to share something special about our recent Gold Stevie Award win for Best Female Entrepreneur in the small business category of under 2,500 employees.
You know, when I started this business, I thought, “What if we could build a tech-focused marketing agency right here in little Jackson, Mississippi?” Not exactly known as America’s technology hub, but I wanted to not just understand managed services providers and IT businesses, but genuinely help them grow and thrive and get the results that they’ve never seen before. And then I’ve been doing that, also creating opportunities for women in an industry that’s been dominated by men, just by nature, but also an industry that I’ve been a part of my entire career.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago at the Marriott Marquis in New York City, downtown in Times Square. Very different from what I’m used to here in Mississippi. I was surrounded by incredible female leaders from 36 countries and was able to receive this recognition.
But, you know, honestly, it was completely unexpected. But here’s what makes the award truly meaningful for me. It’s not about me. In my opinion, every solid female entrepreneur, every solid entrepreneur in general, is only as good as the team around them. What makes them great is the team around them.
So for me, this award was about the 18 remarkable women who’ve been so proud to be able to come alongside me and the women who make up our team. Let me paint a picture of what we’ve built together in the heart of Mississippi. We created something really unique, a marketing agency that serves technology companies. To my knowledge, the only marketing agency that’s focused specifically on technology companies in general in the state of Mississippi, but certainly the only one that focuses on managed services providers and IT businesses. And our team doesn’t just create content or run campaigns, but we’re truly helping managed services providers and IT businesses across the nation and a couple outside of the nation.
